The Museum of Nature and Archaeology in Santa Cruz will offer free admission and a variety of cultural workshops and guided tours during the 18th edition of Plenilunio from October 2 to 4.

The 18th edition of Plenilunio Santa Cruz returns from October 2 to 4, with the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) playing a central role. As part of a city-wide effort to bring culture into the heart of Tenerife’s leisure scene, the museum will center its activities around the theme of the four natural elements.

The Cabildo de Tenerife has announced that MUNA will offer free admission throughout the weekend. Visitors are welcome on Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The highlight of the museum’s program is the exhibition Concomitances: Indigenous legacies, presence, and futures in Mexico and the Canary Islands, which explores the deep historical and anthropological connections between the two regions.

To help visitors get the most out of the exhibition, the museum is hosting six guided tours. These 45-minute sessions are limited to 20 people each and require advance booking via the Museos de Tenerife website. The schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Councilor José Carlos Acha emphasized that these events build on the museum's ongoing outreach efforts. To celebrate Mexican traditions, the museum has organized three practical workshops:

  • Piñata Making: For children under 14 (accompanied by an adult). Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Limit: 20 participants).
  • Contemporary Embroidery: For those aged 14 and up, focusing on traditional textile designs. Saturday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Catrina Self-Makeup: A workshop exploring Day of the Dead iconography. Sunday, with sessions at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (Limit: 8 participants per session).

By joining Plenilunio, which features over a hundred events across the city, MUNA highlights the importance of cultural centers as spaces where history and contemporary art can engage with the public.
