A mummified body discovered by a hunter in a remote Santa Cruz de La Palma ravine has prompted a homicide investigation by the National Police.

A mummified body was found in a ravine in Santa Cruz de La Palma, according to the National Police. The discovery happened on Monday afternoon in the Los Pajaritos ravine, a remote and hard-to-reach spot in a branch of the Río ravine.

A hunter found the remains and immediately alerted the authorities. National Police officers were sent to the scene, where they confirmed the body's mummified state and secured the area to begin their initial investigation.

Given the unusual nature of the find, the National Police Homicide Group has been brought in from Tenerife and has taken over the case. Their goal is to identify the person, find out how they died, and determine how long the body had been at the location.
