The 24th Mueca International Street Art Festival returns to Puerto de la Cruz from May 7th to 10th, featuring an ambitious program of 105 performances across 20 venues.

The Mueca International Street Art Festival is set to return for its 24th year, cementing its status as a cornerstone of Spanish culture. Organizers announced that the event will take place in Puerto de la Cruz from May 7th to 10th, promising the most ambitious program in the festival’s history.

This year’s scale is impressive: 44 local, national, and international companies will perform 105 shows across 20 different venues. Using the slogan #tejiendoMUECA (#weavingMUECA), the festival aims to bridge the gap between the local community and cutting-edge performing arts. The event is also expanding its footprint with new locations, most notably the Toti Aqualia Space. This growth is supported by a partnership between the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, the Ministry of Culture, and international collaborators like the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture.

The lineup features world-class talent, including the renowned Australian circus company Circa and French artist Yoann Bourgeois. They will perform alongside a strong contingent of Canarian artists, as well as performers from Belgium, Finland, Italy, Germany, Argentina, and Uruguay. The program covers theater, music, dance, and circus, with a special focus on accessibility and family-friendly activities, such as workshops led by Guixot de 8.

This edition also marks the 15th anniversary of the Plataforma Cómplice Mueca, which continues to manage the festival in partnership with the local Department of Culture. While most events are free, five specific productions require a symbolic two-euro ticket, available through Tomaticket. These include the world premiere of Otto Stragman (Abubukaka), Wolf/Lobo (Circa), L’Approche Infinie (Yoann Bourgeois), Llar (Federico Menini), and Antes del nombre (La Pandilla 2.0).

The festival kicks off on Thursday, May 7th, with the Urban Mueca creative market at the Plaza de la Iglesia and the Muecas de Mueca art installation at the Archaeological Museum. The opening day will conclude with a performance by Abubukaka at the Muelle Turismo Space, highlighting the festival’s dedication to using public spaces to bring the community together through art.
