A 42-year-old woman was hospitalized with moderate leg injuries after her motorcycle veered off the TF-21 mountain road in Tenerife on Saturday.

Road safety on Tenerife’s mountain routes is back in the spotlight after an accident on the TF-21 this Saturday. The road’s winding layout and steep terrain require constant driver focus, and this latest incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved.

According to the Canary Islands’ 112 emergency service, the crash occurred at 2:43 p.m. on March 28, 2026, near kilometer marker 25 in La Orotava. A motorcycle veered off the road and tumbled down a slope, triggering a complex rescue operation. Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium and local emergency teams worked together to reach the two occupants in the difficult-to-access area and bring them to safety.

A 42-year-old woman sustained moderate leg injuries in the fall. After receiving initial treatment at the scene from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), she was taken by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. The other person on the motorcycle was uninjured and did not require medical attention.

Incidents like this highlight the vital importance of road maintenance and clear signage on mountain routes, where even a minor driving error can lead to a dangerous fall. As the TF-21 is a primary route to the island’s summit, it sees heavy traffic from motorcyclists. In such challenging terrain, caution and preventative measures remain the best ways to ensure safety.
