Road safety in the Canary Islands is back in the spotlight following a serious accident in Arona, Tenerife, this Sunday. The crash, which occurred at 9:36 a.m. on the TF-655, left a motorcyclist in critical condition and has once again highlighted the dangers faced by riders on island roads.

Emergency services (CECOES 112) were called to the scene after a collision between a motorcycle and a car. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. After receiving emergency treatment at the scene, they were rushed to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where they remain under specialized care. The passenger on the motorcycle also sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Quirón Costa Adeje Hospital for evaluation.

The Civil Guard is now investigating the crash to determine exactly how it happened. Officers managed traffic in the area while the scene was cleared, and the road has since returned to normal.

This incident has renewed concerns among local authorities regarding the high number of accidents on Tenerife’s secondary roads. Officials continue to urge drivers to exercise extreme caution at intersections, noting that motorcyclists are significantly more vulnerable than those in cars. As the investigation continues, medical teams remain focused on the critical recovery of the injured rider.
