A 20-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition after suffering severe injuries in a crash on a secondary road in San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife.
Road safety on Tenerife’s secondary roads is back in the spotlight following a serious accident in San Miguel de Abona this Wednesday. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (112), a 20-year-old man is in critical condition after falling from his motorcycle on the Los Abrigos road.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. Local police arrived quickly to secure the scene and assist, while medical teams from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and a local health center treated the rider for severe multiple trauma.
After being stabilized at the Hospital del Sur, the young man was rushed by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by motorcyclists on the island. Factors such as challenging terrain, heavy coastal traffic, and the lack of protection for riders make secondary roads particularly dangerous.
