Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Crash in Tenerife Tunnel
A 51-year-old man was hospitalized with moderate injuries after falling from his motorcycle in the Avenida Tres de Mayo tunnel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Friday.
Road safety in busy city centers is back in the spotlight after an accident in Tenerife’s capital this Friday. Emergency services reported that a 51-year-old man was hospitalized after falling from his motorcycle in the Avenida Tres de Mayo tunnel.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Center. Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) stabilized the man, who suffered moderate injuries, before transporting him to the Hospital de la Candelaria for further evaluation.
Accidents in tunnels present unique challenges for traffic management, as narrow lanes and artificial lighting can make it harder for drivers to react to sudden hazards. While road crews cleared the area to restore traffic flow, local police launched an investigation. They are now working to determine exactly what caused the motorcyclist to lose control and whether external factors or mechanical issues played a role.
