Motorcyclist Dies in Fatal Crash on Tenerife’s TF-5 Highway
A 57-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on Tenerife’s TF-5 highway near Los Realejos on Tuesday afternoon.
Road accidents on Tenerife’s highways are back in the spotlight following a fatal crash on the TF-5 this Tuesday. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (CECOES 112), the accident occurred mid-afternoon near the El Socorro beach exit in Los Realejos. The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by motorcyclists on high-speed roads, a group that has historically accounted for a significant number of road fatalities in the region.
The collision involved a car and a motorcycle. Emergency services were alerted at 3:44 p.m., and dispatchers instructed the caller to begin CPR, as the 57-year-old motorcyclist was in cardiac arrest. Despite the arrival of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and their attempts to provide advanced life support, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Civil Guard is now investigating the cause of the crash and managing the legal proceedings. The Tenerife Fire Department and road maintenance crews also attended the scene to clear debris and reopen the road. This tragedy serves as a reminder of the dangers on one of the island’s busiest routes, where experts continue to call for better driver awareness, stricter surveillance, and careful attention to safety distances at junctions.
