A 62-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on Tenerife’s TF-28 road in Arona on Tuesday, prompting renewed concerns regarding road safety in the region.

Road safety on Tenerife’s secondary roads is back in the spotlight following a fatal crash in Arona this Tuesday. The accident, which claimed the life of a 62-year-old motorcyclist, highlights the dangers faced by those on two-wheeled vehicles, particularly on busy routes near critical infrastructure like the Hospital del Sur.

The collision occurred just after 7:00 p.m. at kilometer 93.8 of the TF-28, near El Mojón. The motorcyclist, a foreign resident of La Camella, was heading toward Valle San Lorenzo when his bike collided with a car traveling in the same direction. Although witnesses attempted CPR under the guidance of emergency dispatchers, and two ambulances arrived shortly after, medical teams were unable to save the man, and he was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m.

The Civil Guard’s traffic investigation team from Granadilla de Abona is now examining the scene. Their report will be essential in determining exactly how the crash happened and whether any legal action is required.

This tragedy is part of a broader, ongoing issue on the Canary Islands' road network, where the mix of different vehicle types on conventional roads remains a significant safety concern. The TF-28, which serves as a vital link to essential services, is once again under scrutiny. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially near roundabouts and access points, where accidents are most common. The emergency response included the Arona Local Police, island firefighters, and road maintenance crews.
