A motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on the TF-13 road near Bajamar in San Cristóbal de La Laguna on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation into the fatal accident.
Safety on secondary roads is back in the spotlight following a fatal accident in San Cristóbal de La Laguna this Tuesday. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (1-1-2), a motorcyclist died after colliding with a car on the TF-13 road, near Bajamar.
The crash occurred at 2:47 p.m., once again highlighting the dangers faced by motorcyclists on busy roads where they are particularly vulnerable to collisions with larger vehicles. Two healthcare professionals who happened to be nearby began CPR immediately, guided by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) over the phone, but the injuries were too severe.
When emergency teams arrived with both medical and basic life support units, they continued advanced resuscitation efforts, but were ultimately unable to save the motorcyclist. The Local Police are now investigating the cause of the accident.
This tragedy serves as a reminder of how critical the first few minutes after an accident are. While emergency protocols are vital, they cannot always overcome severe trauma. The TF-13, which connects several busy coastal towns, remains a focus for authorities as they work to address the ongoing issue of road safety across the Canary Islands.
