Motorcyclist, 47, Dies in Fatal Crash in Tenerife
A 47-year-old motorcyclist died early Saturday morning following a fatal crash on the Carretera del Amparo in Icod de los Vinos, Tenerife.
Road accidents on secondary roads are back in the spotlight following a fatal crash in Tenerife early this morning. According to the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (112), a 47-year-old man died in an accident in the municipality of Icod de los Vinos.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. this Saturday on the Carretera del Amparo. The crash, which involved a motorcyclist falling from his vehicle, has once again highlighted the vulnerability of riders on interurban roads—a group that historically accounts for a high number of road fatalities in Spain. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine if factors such as road conditions, poor visibility, or distractions caused the rider to lose control.
After receiving the alert, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) dispatched a medicalized ambulance and a basic life support unit. Medical staff from a local health center also arrived quickly, but they were unable to save the man and could only confirm his death at the scene.
Local police managed the area while emergency services completed their work. Officers have now begun an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the crash and complete the necessary legal procedures.
