The Tenerife Council has allocated over 10.5 million euros to complete the construction of six floors of the Canary Islands Biomedical Research Center, which will contribute to the development of medical science and the region's economy.

The Canary Center for Biomedical Research is expanding! The Tenerife Council has approved the addition of 6 floors to the CIBICAN building. Together with the University of La Laguna, they signed an agreement allocating over 10.5 million euros for this purpose. The new building will host advanced medical research to help improve people's health.

President Rosa Dávila says that this will make Tenerife a leader in medical research: "We are betting on the development of science and medicine, which will create new jobs and support the region's economy."

Thanks to cooperation with the University of La Laguna and the Canary Foundation for the Development of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, this expansion will help develop the economy and create quality jobs. Juan José Martínez, Innovation Councilor, considers this an important step in the development of Tenerife: "We want to invest in production to improve the quality of jobs and develop the economy through science, technology and research."

The agreement will be valid for four years with the possibility of extension for another four.

The Tenerife Council will fully finance the project, and the Bioavance Foundation will develop the construction project, which is estimated to cost over 400,000 euros.

After that, the project will be transferred to the University of La Laguna, which will become its owner. The university will also be responsible for the construction: it will hold a tender, conclude a contract and carry out all the expansion works. In addition, the university will be responsible for putting the building into operation, as well as for technical supervision and safety at the construction site.
