Santa Cruz is developing a city development plan based on data from the city forum.
Santa Cruz plans to become a modern and eco-friendly city, using data from the first city forum to develop a development plan for the next 15-20 years.
Santa Cruz is working to become a modern, environmentally friendly, and successful city. To achieve this, they are using data collected at the first city forum, which took place in March last year. The organizers were the Department of Strategic Planning, the Moeve Foundation, and the Metrópoli Foundation.
The forum brought together 80 important people from various fields: government, business, and public organizations. They discussed what the future of the city should be.
Participants were asked to complete a questionnaire with a large number of questions (more than 180). The answers provided over 14,000 different opinions and ideas. All of this was studied, the most important aspects were selected and compiled into one document. It is planned to be discussed at the second city forum.
The document covers important topics: urban planning, transport, ecology, economy, innovation, and urban regeneration. The results will help determine where everyone agrees, where opinions differ, and what tasks are most important. This will become a plan of action for the development of Santa Cruz.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, emphasized that such joint work is very important. "The first forum gave us the opportunity to think and create a model of the city that meets the requirements of the time. This will help us make our city better and more successful," he said.
Carlos Tarife, the first deputy mayor, added that they are almost ready for the city to cope with the challenges of the future. He also noted that the results of the analysis will form the basis for the second city forum, which will take place in the near future.
Tarife emphasized that without the cooperation of various authorities (state, regional, and local), it would be impossible to achieve the set goals.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of various foundations, administrations, and municipalities.
The President of the Ports of Tenerife, Pedro Suárez, noted that the project aims to plan the future of the city for the next 20 years, and the port plays an important role in this.
The analysis conducted by Metrópoli uses modern tools and research. This will help the city authorities make the right decisions and implement them in specific projects.
The "City" project aims to coordinate the main ideas for the development of Santa Cruz for the next 15-20 years. To do this, they will study the successful experience of other cities and adapt it to local conditions.
It is expected that the document will help improve transport, provide affordable housing, attract more companies and create new jobs, as well as combine nature with the urban environment and establish a connection between the port and the city.
