Cinemas are offering a diverse lineup this month, including the anticipated horror sequel Scream 7, a new adaptation of Les Misérables, the Spanish drama Islands, the animated adventure Scarlet, a special Elvis Presley concert film, the psychological thriller The Residence, the Brazilian drama Manas, and a limited re-release of The Revenant.

As the month ends, cinemas are showing a diverse range of films. These include everything from horror sequels and social dramas to animated movies, featuring both local and Latin American productions.

One of the most anticipated films is Scream 7, the latest in the horror series. Directed by Kevin Williamson and starring Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, this movie sees Ghostface target Sidney Prescott's daughter, making Sidney face her past once more.

Also showing is Éric Besnard's Les Misérables: The Origin. This film brings the first 150 pages of Victor Hugo's famous novel to life. Set in France in 1815, it stars Grégory Gadebois as Jean Valjean, focusing on his release from prison and the challenges he faces from society.

From Spain, we have Islands, which marks Ana Belén's return to a leading film role after two decades. Directed by Marina Seresesky and shot entirely in Tenerife, the film explores themes of loneliness, being forgotten, and immigration in the Canary Islands. It tells the story of Amparo, an actress going through a tough time, who meets a troubled young man played by Manu Vega.

For animation fans, Oscar-nominated director Mamoru Hosoda presents Scarlet. This adventure blends medieval fantasy with travel between different worlds. The story follows a warrior princess on a quest for revenge, whose journey changes when she meets a young man from the present day in the "Otherworld."

You can also catch Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert. This is a special presentation by Baz Luhrmann featuring never-before-seen footage of the King of Rock. It offers a deep dive into the excitement of his Las Vegas shows and his tours from the 1970s.

In the psychological thriller category, Yann Gozlan's The Residence (originally called Dalloway) stars Cécile de France. The movie looks at how creativity, paranoia, and technology control us, making us think about how artificial intelligence affects art.

Director Marianna Brennand's Manas is also out. Nominated for Best Ibero-American Film at the Goya Awards, it explores sexual abuse and male-dominated violence on Brazil's Marajó Island, seen through the eyes of Tielle during her teenage years in the Amazon rainforest.

Finally, to celebrate its tenth anniversary, The Revenant is back in Spanish cinemas for a limited time this Saturday and Sunday, March 1st. This Oscar-winning film returns while its star, Leonardo DiCaprio, has just been nominated for another Academy Award for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
