Molina Sport Gran Canaria Secures Elite League Inline Hockey Title
Molina Sport Gran Canaria secured the Spanish Elite League inline hockey title after defeating the Arona Tenerife Guanches in a decisive final series.
Molina Sport Gran Canaria has once again proven its dominance in national inline hockey, securing the Elite League title after a decisive victory over the Arona Tenerife Guanches. Despite an impressive regular season, the Tenerife side could not match the experience of their opponents, who have firmly established themselves as the team to beat in Spain.
The final series was one-sided, with Molina Sport winning 7-1 and 12-3. This gap in performance reflected the difference in stability between the two clubs: while Molina Sport has maintained a consistent roster for five years, the Guanches are currently in a rebuilding phase, with many players competing in their first-ever final. This lack of experience proved costly when the pressure mounted during the games.
Arona Tenerife Guanches’ management has been self-critical, admitting that their aggressive, high-risk style of play was not enough to overcome such a seasoned opponent. However, the club views the season as a success overall, as they exceeded their initial goals by reaching the King’s Cup and finishing as one of the top two teams in the country.
Looking ahead, the club plans to focus on continuity. The board intends to keep the core group of players together while making targeted improvements to the roster. This strategy is vital as the team prepares for a demanding upcoming season, which includes the Spanish Super Cup, the European Cup, and the Elite League. The goal is to use the lessons learned from this final to become a stronger contender for all four titles next year.
