Moisés P. Sánchez to Reimagine Works of Manuel de Falla at CajaCanarias Foundation
Pianist Moisés P. Sánchez will perform Falla imaginado at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this Friday, blending jazz, rock, and classical elements to reinterpret the works of Manuel de Falla.
Reimagining classical music through a modern lens has become a vibrant trend in Spain’s music scene, and the CajaCanarias Foundation is once again highlighting this movement. This Friday at 8:00 p.m., the Foundation’s Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host Falla imaginado, a performance led by pianist Moisés P. Sánchez as part of the "Spring at the Foundation" series.
This project offers a fresh aesthetic and technical take on the works of Manuel de Falla, ahead of the 150th anniversary of the Cádiz-born composer’s birth. Rather than a traditional performance, the show blends jazz, classical music, and symphonic rock to breathe new life into iconic scores like El amor brujo, La vida breve, and the Siete canciones populares españolas. The program also features lesser-known works, such as Fantasia Bætica and Nocturno, performed by a trio that includes violinist Ana María Valderrama and double bassist Pablo Martín Caminero.
A highlight of the recital is the Suite Imaginada, an original composition by Sánchez that explores Falla’s style from a contemporary perspective. This performance marks a return to the Foundation for Sánchez, who previously appeared during the 2023 Cultural Autumn.
Members of the Foundation’s "Friends" program are eligible for a 25% discount on tickets. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the official website at www.cajacanarias.com. Through this event, the CajaCanarias Foundation continues its commitment to sharing classical music by bridging the gap between historical tradition and modern creativity.
