The "Mi Pueblo Lee" literary festival arrives in El Sauzal, Tenerife, on April 10–11, featuring a multidisciplinary program of readings, performances, and discussions designed to bridge the cultural gap between urban and rural communities.

The "Mi Pueblo Lee" (My Town Reads) Literary Festival is bringing culture to new corners of Spain, with its latest stop in El Sauzal, Tenerife. This award-winning project aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas by hosting multidisciplinary events. Having already visited 44 locations across the country, the festival is now arriving in the Canary Islands with support from local and national government bodies.

The festival stands out for blending traditional literature with modern culture. A highlight of this approach is a performance by rapper and writer Errecé on Saturday, April 11, at 12:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Príncipe, which aims to connect urban music fans with the literary community.

Running from April 10 to 11, the event offers much more than a standard book fair. The schedule kicks off on Friday at 8:00 p.m. with a live recording of the Solo Palique podcast at the El Sauzal Theater. On Saturday, activities begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Plaza del Príncipe, featuring storytelling by Silvia Torrents and Óscar Tiraida, a 5:00 p.m. roundtable discussion on the local creative scene with authors Óscar Liam, Arantxa Rufo, and Ana González Duque, and an appearance by writer Sonsoles Ónega at 6:00 p.m.

The festival concludes on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with an acoustic performance by Bryan Rodríguez. By combining literature with other art forms, the "Mi Pueblo Lee" association—alongside the Debrigode Cultural Association and the El Barco de Papel bookstore—hopes to revitalize El Sauzal’s cultural scene and set a new standard for future events on the island.
