Metrotenerife will implement its summer weekday tram schedule starting this Monday to align service frequency with reduced seasonal demand, while maintaining standard weekend and holiday operations.

Starting this Monday, Metrotenerife is switching to its summer schedule to better match transport services with lower demand during July and August.

Under the guidance of the Island Council, the new plan adjusts service frequency to keep the network running efficiently. On weekdays, Line 1 trams will run every six minutes during peak hours, while Line 2 will run every 12 minutes. These changes only apply to weekdays; the usual 24-hour service on weekends and holidays will remain exactly the same to support leisure travel and night-shift workers.

This seasonal adjustment is a standard practice for managing light rail systems, helping to balance service quality with operational costs. Regular service frequencies will return in early September, when demand is expected to rise again as schools reopen and work activity picks up.
