
Metrotenerife Deploys Double Trams for Three Kings' Eve
Metrotenerife will operate enhanced Line 1 services with double trams every 10-15 minutes for Three Kings' Eve on January 5, maintaining 80% of usual service despite a strike and closing the Weyler stop for the parade.
Metrotenerife is concluding its Christmas service plan with a special double tram system for Three Kings' Eve on Monday, January 5. On this busy day, double trams will run every 10 minutes during the day. From then until 2:00 AM, they will run every 15 minutes. After 2:00 AM, service will be every 30 minutes without interruption. Three Kings' Eve is one of the busiest travel days, so Line 1 will operate at its maximum capacity to help people get to the shopping and entertainment areas of Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
Three Kings' Eve: Double Trams Every 10 Minutes
On Monday, January 5, for Three Kings' Eve, Line 1 will mostly use double trams every 10 minutes throughout the day. These double trams will continue to run every 10 to 15 minutes until 2:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6 (Three Kings' Day). After 2:00 AM, Line 1 will switch back to single trams and holiday schedules.
Line 2 will have trams every 10 or 15 minutes on Three Kings' Eve, depending on the time.
Three Kings' Parade: Weyler Stop Closed
As usual, the Weyler stop on Line 1 will be closed for the Three Kings' Parade. This closure starts at 6:00 PM and is expected to last until around 9:30 PM, or until the Santa Cruz Local Police gives permission to reopen the section. During this time, the rest of Line 1 will run as normal between Intercambiador and Teatro GuimerĂ¡, and between La Paz and Trinidad.
On Tuesday, January 6, Three Kings' Day, both lines will operate with single trams on a holiday schedule. Trams will run every 15 to 20 minutes in the morning and afternoon, and every 30 minutes until the end of service.
Please note that tram services on January 5 and 6 will be affected by an ongoing strike by company workers, which runs from Monday to Friday. During the strike, Metrotenerife will maintain 80% of its usual service on both Line 1 and Line 2.
