Author Melchor Núñez Pérez will present his new essay, Divagaciones de convalecencia, this Friday at the San Borondón cultural space in La Laguna, offering an introspective analysis of modern society.

Literature’s power to foster critical thinking during uncertain times is back in the spotlight with the upcoming release of Divagaciones de convalecencia. Ensayo sobre el mundo actual y sus circunstancias (Convalescent Ramblings: An Essay on the Current World and Its Circumstances). According to the Centro de la Cultura Popular Canaria (CCPC), author Melchor Núñez Pérez will present the book this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the San Borondón cultural space on Calle Daute in La Laguna.

Moving away from traditional storytelling, the book is an introspective journey. Núñez Pérez draws on his background in teaching and public administration to examine the foundations of modern society. Using his own personal recovery as a starting point, he explores a wide range of topics, including science, philosophy, politics, and the arts.

At the presentation, the author will be joined by Andrés Doreste Zamora, a lawyer for the Canary Islands Advisory Council and a professor of Constitutional Law at the University of La Laguna, who will offer a legal and academic perspective on the work.

The book also features a prologue by journalist and writer Juan Cruz Ruiz. In his introduction, Cruz Ruiz praises the author’s ability to navigate complex modern issues and transform personal experience into compelling prose. This new title adds to the CCPC’s catalog, continuing its mission to share thoughtful, analytical voices from the Canary Islands that help us better understand the contradictions of our time.
