The Municipal Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will unveil a new catalog this Saturday to mark the conclusion of Medín Martín’s 40-year retrospective exhibition.

This weekend marks a significant milestone for Medín Martín, a key figure in contemporary Canary Islands art. To celebrate the conclusion of his retrospective at the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a new catalog summarizing his work will be unveiled this Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The exhibition, Medín Martín. Traces. 40 Years of Sculpture (1986-2026), acts as a personal retrospective of the artist’s career. Featuring fifty pieces, the collection traces a timeline starting from his first solo show in 1986 at the Hermitage of San Miguel in La Laguna. The display highlights forty years of craftsmanship, showcasing the evolution of an artist whose work explores the deep connection between the natural world and the human psyche.

The exhibition is organized into 15 thematic series, all of which are documented in the new catalog. More than just a photo book, this publication serves as an analytical guide to the materials and concepts that have shaped Martín’s work over the last four decades.

For those wishing to explore the exhibition before it closes this Sunday, the museum is hosting one final guided tour. This session offers visitors a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the theoretical foundations behind the sculptor’s long career of experimentation.
