Writer Marto Pariente received an award from the city of Santa Cruz for his 2025 detective novel. This shows how much Santa Cruz de Tenerife values literature, especially the crime genre.

The award ceremony took place on October 2 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes during the Tenerife Noir festival, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The festival has become one of the most important events for detective fiction fans in Spain.

The event was attended by more than 50 people, including members of the Tenerife Noir Book Club and regular readers. They actively communicated with the author. Prior to the official part, Pariente met with two dozen students from the Book Club of the Antonio Lozano Department of Culture. In this way, the festival encourages young people to read.

The award was presented by Santiago Díaz, Councillor for Culture of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, together with Cristóbal de La Rosa, Director General for Cultural Innovation of the Government of the Canary Islands. The evening ended with a celebratory buffet with D.O. Tacoronte-Acentejo wines, which are regular partners of the festival.

This year's festival was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Island Council of Tenerife, DS Store Tenerife, the Debrigode Cultural Association and the Comics & Mazmorras bookstore. Their participation helped make the festival diverse and open to all.

With this award, Tenerife Noir reaffirms its love for the detective genre and is already preparing for its 11th festival, which promises many new and interesting things for visitors.
