Marta Alonso Baños’s exhibition Bricks, on display at Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Parque García Sanabria Art Gallery until September 20th, reimagines industrial construction materials as expressive works of fine art.

An exhibition currently at the Parque García Sanabria Art Gallery in Santa Cruz de Tenerife explores how modern ceramics can transform everyday industrial objects into works of art. The project, titled Bricks by ceramicist Marta Alonso Baños, will be on display until September 20th and challenges visitors to rethink how they view common construction materials.

The exhibition highlights the artist’s skill in taking a basic building block and reimagining it through traditional craftsmanship. Her three featured works—Marriage, Lunchtime, and Night and Day—use color and texture to give each piece a unique character. According to Santiago Díaz, the city’s Councilor for Culture, the collection demonstrates how traditional crafts can be integrated into contemporary art, turning a functional object into something expressive.

The gallery space has been carefully arranged to make the most of the venue’s natural light and size, encouraging visitors to view the pieces from different angles and engage directly with the materials. Ultimately, the exhibition examines the balance between mass production and creative individuality, offering a calm, reflective experience that moves the humble brick far beyond its original purpose and into the world of fine art.
