Marc Paré and Sarah-Quita Offringa Triumph at 2026 Tenerife Wind&Waves Festival

Tenerife has cemented its status as a premier destination for professional windsurfing following the successful conclusion of the 2026 Wind&Waves Festival at El Cabezo beach in Granadilla de Abona. Organizers noted that the ten-day event not only decided the PWA World Cup standings but also provided a significant boost to the local economy and tourism in the south of the island.

The competition saw historic results, with Spaniard Marc Paré securing his third consecutive victory in the men’s Open category. Paré delivered an impeccable performance, winning all four of his heats and finishing with a record-breaking 36.63 points to beat top competitors including Philip Köster, Marino Gil, and Lennart Neubauer. In the women’s division, Sarah-Quita Offringa from Aruba continued her dominance. With 29 world titles to her name, she secured her second straight win in Tenerife, finishing ahead of Lina Erpenstein and Alexia Kiefer Quintana.

Beyond the sport itself, the festival featured dining areas, children’s zones, and cultural activities under the "Corona Sunset Sessions" banner. Local authorities, including the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Granadilla de Abona City Council, view this blend of elite sports and local entertainment as a key strategy for promoting the island internationally.

Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Cabildo, and Tourism CEO Dimple Melwani highlighted that Tenerife’s unique climate and geography are world-class assets. Granadilla de Abona’s Mayor, José Domingo Regalado, and Councilor for Tourism, Eudita Mendoza, added that hosting such international events is vital for supporting the local service sector and strengthening the island’s reputation as a top-tier travel destination.
