The 20th edition of the Mar Abierto Festival is celebrating its milestone anniversary with a series of 20 concerts across the Canary Islands running through December.

The 20th edition of the Mar Abierto Festival is heading into its final months with an ambitious lineup running through December. To celebrate its two-decade milestone, the festival is hosting 20 concerts across the Canary Islands. Beyond providing entertainment, the event aims to boost the local economy and bring major performances to a wider range of island communities.

The schedule picks up on October 11 at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna, where Pasión Vega will perform a tribute to the films of Pedro Almodóvar. Shortly after, the international Michael Jackson tribute show, This Is Michael, will visit the Palmetum in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (October 16), the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (October 17), and the Fuerteventura Palace of Congresses (October 19). Later that month, Pablo López brings his El Niño del Espacio tour to the Fuerteventura Palace of Congresses on October 30 and the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium on October 31.

November’s highlights include Víctor Manuel, who will perform at the Teatro Leal (November 7), the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium (November 8), and the Fuerteventura Palace of Congresses (November 13). Following this, Sole Giménez will present her show Ser Humano at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium on November 21 and the Teatro Leal on November 22. Marta Sánchez will conclude the festival on December 7 at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, celebrating her 40-year career.

The festival, which spans Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura, is made possible through a partnership between public and private sectors. It is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, the island councils of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, and the city councils of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and La Laguna.
