Man Injured in Rescue Operation at Tenerife’s Charco del Rayo
A 42-year-old man was rescued by emergency services after sustaining moderate injuries in a fall on the rugged volcanic terrain of Charco del Rayo in Tenerife.
Emergency services were called to Charco del Rayo in Buenavista del Norte this Monday following an accident. While the area is known for its stunning scenery, its rugged volcanic terrain is notoriously difficult to navigate and requires visitors to exercise extreme caution.
The Canary Islands’ 112 emergency coordination center received the alert at 12:46 p.m. Due to the challenging landscape, firefighters were required to reach the 42-year-old victim, stabilize him, and carefully extract him using a basket stretcher.
Once brought to safety, the man was assessed by medical teams on-site. He was found to have sustained moderate multiple contusions and was taken to the Hospital del Norte for further treatment.
This incident serves as a reminder of the safety risks along Tenerife’s northern coastline, where unpredictable sea conditions and uneven terrain often make rescue operations complex. The rescue effort involved a coordinated response from firefighters, medical personnel, the Civil Guard, and the Local Police.
