Man Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle on Tenerife’s TF-1 Motorway
A 26-year-old man was hospitalized with severe leg injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Tenerife’s TF-1 motorway early Sunday morning.
Road safety on Tenerife’s major highways is back under scrutiny following a serious accident on the TF-1 motorway this Sunday. According to the 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Center, a 26-year-old man was hospitalized at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Arona.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning, around 7:26 a.m. Emergency responders from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived at the scene to stabilize the man, who had suffered a severe leg injury, before transporting him to the hospital.
Accidents involving pedestrians on high-speed motorways remain a significant challenge for local authorities. The Civil Guard is now investigating the circumstances of the crash, while road maintenance crews worked to clear the area and restore traffic flow on the busy route.
This incident highlights the dangers of walking on high-speed roads, where pedestrian access is strictly prohibited except in extreme emergencies. The ongoing investigation aims to determine why the young man was on the motorway at the time of the collision.
