A 57-year-old man was hospitalized with moderate injuries after being struck by a vehicle in San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife, on Tuesday night.

Road safety in southern Tenerife is back in the spotlight following an accident last night in San Miguel de Abona. According to the Canary Islands’ emergency services (CECOES 112), a 57-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello, a busy road in the municipality.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 10:00 p.m. A basic life support unit from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived at the scene to treat the man. He was stabilized after sustaining moderate injuries and was subsequently taken to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further care.

The Civil Guard is now investigating the incident to determine exactly how the collision occurred and whether any traffic regulations were broken.
