A man has died after falling more than 30 meters down a slope near the Charco de Las Lajas in Bajamar, Tenerife, this afternoon.

Emergency services, coordinated by the 1-1-2 center, launched a major rescue operation involving a medical helicopter, an ambulance, the regional Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), local firefighters, and police. Despite a rapid response, paramedics were unable to save the man, who died from his injuries.

Authorities are investigating the incident, though initial reports suggest the fall was accidental. The GES aerial team worked to recover the body from the difficult terrain so it could be transported for formal identification and judicial procedures.

This tragedy highlights the risks associated with Tenerife’s rugged northern coastline. The steep, volcanic cliffs and proximity to the sea make these areas challenging for rescue teams, who must navigate complex conditions to reach those in need.
