Man Arrested in Tenerife for Sexual Assault and Digital Coercion of Minor
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Tenerife for the sexual assault, extortion, and psychological coercion of a 15-year-old girl.
Police in Tenerife have arrested a 27-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, as well as charges related to child pornography and the corruption of minors. Investigators say the case involved a pattern of psychological control and digital coercion. The suspect, who has a prior record for gender-based violence, is being held without bail due to the severity of the charges and the risk of reoffending.
The investigation began last May after the girl’s mother filed a complaint in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz. Police discovered that the suspect had gained the victim's trust before using intimate images to extort her.
Analysis of the suspect’s electronic devices revealed a deliberate attempt to isolate the teenager. He reportedly controlled her daily life by dictating what she wore, limiting her social interactions, and forcing her to block friends and family on social media. Experts note that this type of emotional domination is an increasing trend in cybercrime, where perpetrators use digital platforms to manipulate and control vulnerable victims.
Authorities tracked the suspect to Tenerife using his phone records. Following his arrest, a judge ordered him to remain in custody, highlighting the urgent need to protect minors from online sexual violence and the importance of reporting such crimes immediately.
