Man Arrested in Tenerife for Drug Possession and DUI With Minor in Vehicle
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for drug-impaired driving and possession of hashish after police discovered the narcotics in his vehicle while his 12-year-old brother was present.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this past Wednesday after police stopped his vehicle for suspicious driving near Plaza de la República Dominicana.
The incident resulted in two serious charges. First, the driver, identified as C.D.M., tested positive for drugs, violating traffic safety laws. Second, a search of his gray Citroën Berlingo by the police Canine Unit uncovered nearly 95 grams of hashish hidden under the driver’s seat, along with 140 euros in cash.
The situation was further complicated by the presence of the driver’s 12-year-old brother in the car. Following standard safety protocols for minors in criminal situations, officers contacted the boy’s mother to ensure his well-being and arrange for his care.
This case highlights the importance of preventive police checks in urban areas, where erratic driving often leads to the discovery of more serious offenses. The detainee is now in judicial custody, where he faces charges for drug possession, driving under the influence, and endangering a minor.
