Spanish police have arrested a man at Tenerife South Airport in connection with a violent attempted murder that occurred in Adeje last December.
The National Police have arrested a man at Tenerife South Airport in connection with a violent attempted murder in Adeje late last year. The suspect, who was detained upon arriving on a flight from Liverpool, is accused of carrying out the attack in December 2025.
The incident occurred at a residential complex in the island's southern tourist district. According to police, the victim was attacked with a large blade and suffered severe injuries, including a wound to the neck. The victim’s life was saved thanks to the quick intervention of a witness, while the attacker managed to flee, triggering a month-long manhunt.
Authorities were already familiar with the suspect, who has a criminal record involving road safety offenses, assault, and attacks on law enforcement officers.
The arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of international police cooperation and border controls. Because a warrant had been issued for his arrest, authorities were able to intercept the man as soon as he landed. He is now in custody and awaiting trial. Under the Spanish Penal Code, he faces a significant prison sentence if convicted of attempted homicide.
