Man Airlifted After Severe Allergic Reaction in Tenerife
A 64-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital in Tenerife after suffering a severe allergic reaction to an insect sting in a remote area of Adeje.
A 64-year-old man was rescued in the Tenerife municipality of Adeje this Monday after suffering a severe allergic reaction to an insect sting.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the Iserse area of Tijoco. Because the terrain was rugged and difficult to access, the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordination Center (112) launched a complex rescue operation. The Tenerife Fire Consortium and the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) worked together to airlift the man to the Adeje helipad.
Once on the ground, the patient was stabilized by the Canary Islands Emergency Service and local medical staff. He was then taken to Hospiten Sur University Hospital for further treatment.
This incident highlights the vital role of helicopter rescue teams in the Canary Islands. When medical emergencies occur in remote areas, these aerial services are often the only way to provide the rapid, life-saving care required for severe reactions like anaphylaxis.
