An 80-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in La Laguna, Tenerife. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon. He is being treated at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC), according to the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes).
The incident occurred in Plaza Llano Los Molinos, an area close to the San Juan cemetery and the Padre Anchieta housing complex. Emergency services were called a few minutes after 5 PM via 1-1-2, and medical and police teams were immediately sent to the scene.
Two ambulances, one with basic life support and another with advanced medical equipment, were sent. Paramedics quickly assessed the man and found he had a serious head injury. Due to how serious his injuries were, he was rushed to the HUC, where doctors said he was in critical condition.
The La Laguna Local Police's Traffic Accident Investigation Unit is now investigating to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. This investigation is crucial for understanding how the accident happened and who might be responsible, especially in areas where cars and pedestrians share the road, as pedestrian safety should always be a top priority.
