Luz Casal to Headline Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna Festivities with Free Concert
Luz Casal performs a free concert this Friday at La Laguna’s Plaza del Cristo as part of a packed schedule of festivities that has prompted special traffic and parking restrictions across the municipality.
The cultural program for the Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna festivities reaches a major highlight this Friday, September 18, with a free concert by Luz Casal. The Galician singer, currently touring her latest album, Me voy a permitir, will perform at the Plaza del Cristo starting at 9:00 p.m.
This concert is part of the local council’s strategy to host large-scale, free events throughout the festivities, which feature over fifty different activities this year. Following a successful performance by Antonio Orozco earlier this month, this concert offers fans in Tenerife a chance to hear both new tracks and the most iconic hits from Casal’s career.
Friday will be a busy day across the municipality. In addition to the concert, the El Cristo Urbano event will take place at the Plaza de la Junta Suprema from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., showcasing skateboarding, parkour, and calisthenics. Sports fans can head to the Juan Ríos Tejera Pavilion at 8:00 p.m. for the volleyball derby between CV Aguere and CV Haris, while music lovers can attend the fifth edition of Cristo Rock at the Aguere Cultural, also starting at 8:00 p.m.
Due to the number of events, the local council has introduced a special traffic plan. Calle Nava y Grimón will be closed to traffic between Anchieta and the Plaza del Cristo from 3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with the possibility of extending closures if needed. Additionally, the taxi stand has been moved to Camino de Las Peras, and parking will be restricted near the venue to help manage traffic and ensure safety in the historic center during the final days of the festival.
