LPA BMusic Festival Launches "LPA Emer-gente" to Boost Canary Islands Talent
The LPA BMusic Festival has launched "LPA Emer-gente," a new initiative designed to professionalize the Canary Islands' music scene by providing unsigned local artists a pathway to perform alongside established acts and secure a spot in the 2027 festival lineup.
The Canary Islands music scene is entering a new era with the launch of "LPA Emer-gente." Announced by the LPA BMusic Festival, this initiative aims to help local artists break into major concert circuits. More than just a promotional contest, it serves as a vital step toward professionalizing an island market that has long struggled to connect grassroots talent with large-scale production.
Applications are open from April 10 to June 1. The competition is strictly for soloists and bands without record label contracts, and it only accepts original music—no cover or tribute acts. On June 6, twenty projects will be shortlisted to perform on the terrace of the Las Arenas Shopping Center between June 20 and August 22. These performances will be judged through a mix of public digital voting and expert assessment, narrowing the field down to six finalists.
These finalists will perform at the El Rincón Coastal Park on September 11 and 12, sharing the stage with established acts like Angelus Apatrida, Def Con Dos, and Maika Makovski. A professional jury will select the winner, who will receive a guaranteed spot in the festival’s 2027 lineup—offering the kind of long-term career support that emerging artists often lack.
Backed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands, this project is part of a broader effort to reduce the region's reliance on outside talent. By providing a clear path from the rehearsal room to the main stage, the LPA BMusic Festival hopes to create a stable, professional environment for the next generation of musicians.
