Los Silos Hosts Isla Baja Salsa Fest to Celebrate Latin Music and Culture
The Isla Baja Salsa Fest returns to Los Silos from August 28 to 30, offering a multidisciplinary celebration of salsa featuring live concerts, educational workshops, and a dedicated art exhibition.
Los Silos is cementing its reputation as a hub for Latin music in the Canary Islands with the return of the Isla Baja Salsa Fest. From August 28 to 30, the town will host a multidisciplinary event that goes beyond standard concerts, blending live music with cultural education and visual arts.
The festival aims to explore the roots of salsa, using the town’s former convent, the Pérez Enríquez hall, as a central venue. From August 21 to September 6, the hall will host an exhibition featuring original works from over 25 Canarian artists, all inspired by the history and aesthetic of salsa.
The festival schedule is divided into three days:
- Friday, August 28: The focus is on traditional son. The Cuban group Septeto Santiago will lead an educational session, "The Rhythms of Cuba," at 5:00 p.m. (registration via Tickety), followed by a free concert at 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday, August 29: The main showcase runs from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., featuring performances by Haila Mompié, Moncho Rivera, the Sabrosa orchestra, and La Máxima 79, with DJs Brito and Tay de León.
- Sunday, August 30: The festival concludes with a final performance by Haila Mompié, starting at noon.
