Legendary Canarian folk group Los Sabandeños will conclude their 60th-anniversary celebrations with three special performances at the Leal Theatre in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, featuring guest artist Virginia Guantanamera.

Los Sabandeños are more than just a musical group; for the past 60 years, they have been the guardians of the Canary Islands' unique sound. To mark the end of their 60th-anniversary celebrations, the group is returning to the Leal Theatre in San Cristóbal de La Laguna—the very place where they were founded in 1966. They will perform three shows from this Thursday to Saturday, with each concert starting at 8:00 p.m.

The group’s influence reaches far beyond the islands. Over the decades, they have gained international acclaim, collaborating with legendary artists like Alfredo Kraus, Mercedes Sosa, and María Dolores Pradera. With nearly 100 albums to their name, they have transformed Canarian folklore into a sophisticated art form that resonates well beyond traditional boundaries.

To celebrate these final shows, which coincide with Canary Islands Day, the group has curated a setlist designed to stir collective memories across generations. They will be joined by acclaimed Cuban artist Virginia Guantanamera, a three-time Cubadisco Award winner with 40 years of experience, who will add her own flair to the tour’s finale.

The group’s cultural impact is cemented by iconic works like Misa Sabandeña and La Cantata del Mencey Loco, which have helped preserve oral traditions and define the identity of the Archipelago. By choosing to conclude their anniversary cycle in La Laguna, Los Sabandeños are honoring their roots, reaffirming their status as the region’s most enduring and celebrated musical ensemble.
