Los Realejos Vandal Identified, Police Investigate After Mayor's Video
Los Realejos Mayor Adolfo González shared a video of a man vandalizing the Nuestra Señora del Carmen sanctuary and Telefónica building, leading to the vandal's identification by Local Police and the subsequent repainting of the damaged walls.
On Thursday, January 8th, Los Realejos Mayor Adolfo González shared a video on his social media. It showed a man vandalizing property in broad daylight, even with a child present. Alongside the video, González asked the public for help identifying the vandal. The damage occurred on the front of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen sanctuary and the Telefónica building next to it.
The video quickly prompted the City Council to act. They immediately started their process to identify the person responsible for the damage. Once the vandal was located and the purpose of sharing the video was achieved, it was taken down from the mayor's social media.
At the same time, the council asked Realserv, the municipal services company, to repaint the damaged walls. The repainting has already been completed, bringing both buildings back to how they were and stopping any more damage.
Municipal sources confirmed that the Local Police identified the vandal and have started a disciplinary investigation.
