Los Realejos Hosts 21st Edition of 'The Museum of Tales' to Promote Early Literacy
The 21st edition of "The Museum of Tales" in Los Realejos is hosting over 2,000 students at the Casa de la Parra for an immersive storytelling experience that runs through April 30th.
Los Realejos is once again championing early literacy and cultural growth with the 21st edition of "The Museum of Tales." Hosted at the Casa de la Parra, this project goes far beyond traditional reading, offering an immersive experience that brings stories to life.
Running until April 30th, this year’s theme, "Enter a magical library," was created by local storyteller Juan Carlos Toste in partnership with Colorín Colorado Cuentacuentos. The program combines literature with interactive workshops and magic shows, all designed to spark creativity and teach important social values.
The initiative is a major success, with over 2,000 preschool and primary school children expected to attend. While most visitors come from local schools, the program has also drawn students from neighboring towns, including Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, San Juan de la Rambla, La Guancha, El Tanque, and Tacoronte.
The event will also open to the general public from April 17th to 21st as part of the "Once Upon a Time, the City of Tales and Words" program. Families can enjoy special performances by magicians and illusionists, along with a curated selection of books—such as Tito, busca nariz and ¿A qué sabe la luna?—chosen to inspire curiosity and environmental awareness.
By turning the historic Casa de la Parra into a lively learning space, the Los Realejos City Council is making culture more accessible. This initiative proves that storytelling is a powerful tool for development, transforming literature from a static subject into a vibrant, shared experience.
