The Los Cristianos International Carnival 2026, scheduled for March 5-16, has begun preparations with the unveiling of Nareme Melián's "space"-themed poster, depicting an astronomer and vibrant, reinterpreted planets.

The Los Cristianos International Carnival 2026, set for March 5 to 16, has officially begun its preparations with the unveiling of its poster. This carnival is one of the most important celebrations in southern Tenerife.

Nareme Melián designed the poster, which establishes the visual theme for this year's event. The central theme is "space," hinting at ideas of discovery and transformation.

Melián's design features an astronomer looking through a telescope at the sky, symbolizing the start of exploration. This character is shown in soft, neutral colors, which sharply contrasts with the burst of bright colors in the rest of the scene. This contrast aims to capture the vibrant spirit of the Carnival.

The poster also includes planets like Venus, Mercury, Uranus, and Neptune. These are inspired by Roman mythology but are reinterpreted as lively, human-like figures, blending cosmic ideas with the festive carnival style.

The creation process began with a pencil sketch on paper to plan the layout and light-dark balance. It then moved to digital creation, where a rich range of colors was added. This approach helps create a sense of visual flow and movement throughout the artwork.

The poster not only gives a taste of the twelve-day celebration but also highlights Los Cristianos as a top carnival destination in southern Tenerife.
