The Los Cristianos International Carnival in the Canary Islands will host its 2026 edition from March 5th to 16th, featuring a 12-day program of cultural events, parades, and galas for all ages.

The Los Cristianos International Carnival, a major event for culture and tourism in the Canary Islands, is getting ready for its 2026 edition. The Arona town council has announced that the celebration will run for twelve days, from Thursday, March 5th, to Monday, March 16th. The program is designed to offer something for everyone, no matter their age.

This carnival helps the local economy and celebrates the culture of southern Tenerife each year. It kicks off on March 5th with the official presentation of candidates for the Children's Queen, Senior Queen, and Carnival Queen titles. This event will be held at the Infanta Leonor Auditorium in Los Cristianos. The carnival is known for its varied program, mixing traditional and modern elements that attract both locals and international visitors.

Some of the most anticipated events include the Comparsas Contest, two days of Daytime Carnival, the Announcing Parade, and the Murgas Gathering. These usually draw big crowds during the first weekend, specifically March 6th, 7th, and 8th. The main week will feature the Carnival Exhibition, the Choreographic Groups Festival, and the election galas for the Senior Queen and Children's Queen. The highlight of this week is the Grand Gala for the Election of the Carnival Queen on Thursday, March 12th.

The second weekend will host some of the biggest events. On Friday, March 13th, there will be the Drag Queen Show. Saturday, March 14th, includes a second, family-friendly Daytime Carnival, a costume contest, and the Beach Route. The Grand Coso Apoteosis, a major highlight known for its spectacular displays and large turnout, is set for Sunday, March 15th.

The 2026 carnival will conclude on Monday, March 16th, with the traditional 'The People's Sardine' Burial of the Sardine, followed by the widow's dance, bringing the festivities to an end. The Arona town council has mentioned that the program might change and suggests checking official channels for the latest information on schedules and routes.
