Los Cassettes to Perform Free Concert at Festival Encuentros en el Mar in Tenerife

The Canary Islands music scene gets a boost this Saturday as the 22nd Festival Encuentros en el Mar continues. Tenerife-based band Los Cassettes will perform at La Parte Baja in La Orotava, with the show starting at 10:30 p.m. Entry is free, though it is subject to venue capacity.

The concert is part of a wider program organized by Cauproges. The initiative is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands—through Promotur Turismo Islas Canarias and the Canary Institute of Cultural Development—alongside several municipalities, including Los Silos, Buenavista del Norte, Icod de los Vinos, and Telde, with additional support from partners like Club La Provincia.

Founded in 2016 by Cristo Bazzocchi and Hugo García, Los Cassettes have evolved significantly over the years. Since releasing their first EP in 2019, the band has moved toward a sound that blends rock structures with Latin rhythms. This shift, heard in tracks like Hoy me siento bien and Mari, is designed to bring more energy to their live shows and reach a wider audience.

Festivals like this are vital for bringing culture to different parts of the archipelago, giving established local artists a platform outside of the usual venues. By combining private management with public support, the festival helps sustain the regional arts scene and makes it easier for local bands to perform across the islands.
