The Loba Festival is returning for its fourth year, aiming to bring culture to more corners of the Canary Islands. Organizers describe the event as more than just a music festival; it is a platform designed to revitalize the region. With support from the local government and tourism department, the project seeks to weave contemporary art into the social and geographic landscape of the islands.
This year, the festival is expanding its reach. Moving beyond Tenerife, it will now host events in El Hierro, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria. This approach reflects a growing trend in Spain: reaching new audiences by hosting events in unconventional spaces. The festival continues to highlight local identity by pairing live music with traditional guachinches, using these unique spots to showcase avant-garde sounds.
The festival kicks off this Thursday, September 17, at Brisad Espacio Creativo, led by director Carlos Robles. The opening day also marks the start of Snapshot, a photography exhibition by Rocío Eslava that will run until September 25. This focus on visual art aligns with the festival’s broader mission to build a year-round network of artists and venues, rather than just operating during the festival dates.
The program, which includes educational workshops and industry meetings, concludes on October 9 at Aguere Cultural in La Laguna. The closing lineup features Travo, Fotocopia, and Crudo Pimiento, highlighting the festival’s commitment to connecting independent artists from different backgrounds. By using music and visual arts to energize local communities, the festival continues to provide a vital platform for emerging talent.
