'Literature is Feminine' Series Returns with Tribute to Founder Dulce Xerach
The Literature is Feminine series returns to Tenerife today, honoring its late founder Dulce Xerach while continuing its mission to promote female authors and gender perspectives in Canary Islands culture.
The new edition of the Literature is Feminine series aims to place gender perspectives at the heart of intellectual debate. This year, the initiative enters a new phase by honoring its founder, the writer and cultural manager Dulce Xerach, who passed away last year. More than just a literary event, the series serves as a vital forum for discussing the visibility of female authors in the Canary Islands.
The project has become a reliable hub for exchanging ideas and kicks off its program today, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes. The opening session, coordinated by author Arantxa Rufo, will feature a presentation by journalist and Pamplona Negra festival director Susana Rodríguez Lezaun, who will discuss contemporary creative work.
Renaming the series in honor of Dulce Xerach is both a tribute to her legacy and a reflection of the commitment by the organizing association, El Laboratorio, to link literature with social change. By bringing together professionals from various fields, the program aims to build networks that share Xerach’s vision with new audiences, ensuring that the role of women in culture remains a key topic on the public agenda in the Canary Islands.
