Tenerife Libby's La Laguna plays its first Canary Islands derby against Emalsa Gran Canaria today, while Cisneros La Laguna hosts Conqueridor Valencia in their men's Superliga home opener.

Tenerife Libby's La Laguna plays its first Canary Islands derby of the season today at 6:00 PM. They will face Emalsa Gran Canaria at the Pablos Abril Pavilion in Taco.

La Laguna comes into this match in fourth place in the standings. The Tenerife side recently suffered their first defeat of the season, losing away in Catalonia against Sant Cugat. Emalsa Gran Canaria is currently in ninth place, having been quickly defeated by Heidelberg-Volkswagen in their last outing.

Guillermo Orduna, coach of La Laguna, spoke about the team's preparations this week. "We're coming off our first league loss, but defeats are often where you learn the most. It's from there that you start making corrections to grow and improve. In our last match, we struggled to finish long rallies; we've focused on that this week," he explained.

The Argentine coach stressed how important it is for fans to fill the stands at their home venue. "They provide crucial support for the team. We need to create a strong atmosphere to put pressure on the opposition. A full pavilion motivates us and adds tension for the visitors. This team has proven it fights until the very end," he added.

Cisneros La Laguna is hoping to secure their first win of the season as they play their home opener this afternoon at 5:00 PM. This is the third matchday for the men's Superliga volleyball team, led by coach Miguel Rivera. After two consecutive away losses in Gran Canaria and Manacor, the Tenerife team finally plays at the Ríos Tejera Pavilion. They face a tough opponent in Conqueridor Valencia, who currently sit in fourth place.

The Cisneros team aims to get their first points on the board and reconnect with their home fans. Despite showing good moments in their previous matches against Guaguas and Conectabalear, Rivera's team lost both games, 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Their opponents, Conqueridor Valencia, arrive with two victories already. On the opening day, they impressively came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 away in Leganés. Last weekend, they secured a dominant 3-0 home win against Bus Leader San Roque. This means Cisneros faces an undefeated team in what promises to be an exciting match at Ríos Tejera.

All four women's Superliga 2 teams from Tenerife are playing away from home this weekend. Today's matches:

  • Cuesta Piedra, who lead Group A, have a challenging away game against fourth-placed Torrelavega at 5:00 PM.
  • Arona will play Zalaeta at 4:30 PM.
  • In Group B, Fedes takes on Fuentes at 5:30 PM. Tomorrow, Élite will face Sant Quizer at 5:00 PM.

In the men's category, Cisneros' reserve team will host Vinarós at 8:30 PM, while Arona plays away against Castellón at 4:00 PM.
