The Leal Theatre in San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts the tenth anniversary of the Efecto Laguna series this Thursday. To celebrate, organizers are offering free entry to the public until the venue reaches capacity. The event will feature a mix of industry discussions, tributes to local legends, and live music.
More than just a celebration, the event serves as a gauge for the Canary Islands' cultural health. The program highlights how music festivals drive both economic and social growth. At 6:45 p.m., journalist Elena Falcón will moderate a panel featuring prominent island event managers—including Miguel Ramírez, Pino Monterrey, Javier Jiménez, and Ruth Barreto—to discuss the future of live music and how the industry is adapting to new sustainability challenges following the pandemic.
Adrián del Castillo, Councilor for Culture and head of the Autonomous Body for Musical Activities (OAAM), praised the series for its role in showcasing local talent and bringing national acts to the islands.
The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Click n’Roll presentation in the theater lobby. A highlight of the evening will take place at 8:20 p.m., when the Honorary Award is presented to Txowie of the band Las Ratas, honoring his 30-year contribution to the Canary Islands' independent music scene. The tribute will conclude at 8:30 p.m. with an acoustic performance by the band. These events follow a successful opening night on Wednesday featuring singer-songwriter Beatriz Martín, marking a busy and vibrant week of culture in La Laguna.
