Lavadora de Textos Marks 15 Years, Relaunches Blog with Martínez de Sousa Tribute
Tenerife-based text correction service Lavadora de textos celebrated its 15th anniversary by relaunching its blog and updating its website, which included a tribute article to the recently deceased influential Spanish linguist José Martínez de Sousa.
Lavadora de textos, a text correction and language advice service based in Tenerife, recently celebrated its fifteenth anniversary. This milestone coincided with the relaunch of its blog and the publication of an article honoring José Martínez de Sousa. Martínez de Sousa, a hugely influential figure in Spanish spelling and dictionaries, passed away in Barcelona on January 27 at the age of 92.
According to the company, the celebration of these fifteen years since its web platform and digital blog first launched also included a complete refresh of its online portal. The updated website, found at the same address (www.lavadoradetextos.com), now features a modern design and is much easier to use than the version created in 2011.
The return of the 'Lavadora de textos' blog marks a new chapter for this platform dedicated to sharing linguistic knowledge. Ramón Alemán, who coordinates the blog, has dedicated the first article of this new phase, titled 'Pepe is gone, Sousa remains', to his mentor. Alemán had previously compiled his blog posts into two books: 'Lavadora de textos' (2011) and 'La duda, el sentido común y otras herramientas para escribir bien' (2017), the latter featuring a foreword by Martínez de Sousa himself.
In his tribute, Alemán emphasizes Martínez de Sousa's profound impact. He notes that Martínez de Sousa's wisdom, found in essential reference works such as 'Ortografía y ortotipografía del español actual', 'Diccionario de uso de las mayúsculas y minúsculas', 'Diccionario de usos y dudas del español actual', and 'Manual de estilo de la lengua española', has been a cornerstone for Spanish language professionals.
Lavadora de textos, which is part of the communication company Contextos, specializes in correcting texts, offering linguistic guidance, and promoting the correct use of the Spanish language from its base in Tenerife.
