The documentary Las primeras, chronicling the pioneering reggaeton journey of music duo K-Narias, premieres this Thursday at Yelmo Meridiano Cinemas in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This Thursday, Yelmo Meridiano Cinemas in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the premiere of Las primeras. This full-length documentary tells the story of K-Narias, the music duo made up of sisters Loida and Gara Hernández Rubio. Produced and funded by Videoreport Canarias, Las primeras shares "the untold story of two local girls who became pioneers in reggaeton, champions of urban music, and true musical ambassadors for our region around the world," according to the production company.

The documentary's description highlights them as "two women who opened doors for today's urban music queens," from Rosalía to Karol G, and including Mala Rodríguez and Ivy Queen. K-Narias were the only Europeans to promote these sounds at a major Latin music event in New York, performing alongside stars like their mentor Don Omar. Now, two decades after the twin sisters sold millions of records and built a huge fanbase in Latin America, K-Narias are sharing their journey of overcoming challenges for the first time.

The event, described as a musical and cinematic celebration, begins at 7:00 PM at Yelmo Meridiano Cinemas (Avenida Manuel Hermoso Rojas, No. 16). The stars of the film, along with the documentary's technical and artistic crew, media representatives, and many cultural figures, are expected to attend.

The production company explains that the film is the result of over two years of research. During this time, a large team sifted through more than 150 hours of never-before-seen footage. They add that "this story of the pioneering reggaeton group in our country includes contributions from dozens of people across Latin America, the United States, and Europe."

Loida and Gara themselves recount the challenges of being pioneers, "as well as the stigmas and traumas from their childhood that they carried with them onto stages around the world." This documentary offers a chance for them to confront past struggles. Now, 20 years after moving from humble beginnings to success, they share their story in this film. Artists, producers, and music critics also contribute, helping viewers understand the full impact of K-Narias, whose talent truly made them Las primeras (The First Ones).
