The CajaCanarias Foundation launches "Future Classics," a new free film series in La Palma showcasing four recent feature films expected to become modern classics, beginning this Wednesday with The Worst Person in the World.

La Palma's cultural scene is getting a boost with a new film series called "Future Classics." Organized by the CajaCanarias Foundation's film library, this series will showcase four recent feature films that are expected to become modern classics. The goal is to make high-quality cinema more accessible across the Canary Islands.

The "Future Classics" series will be held at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de La Palma. Screenings are scheduled for February 18 and 25, and March 4 and 11, all starting at 7 PM. Entry is free until the venue reaches its capacity. For more information, visit the foundation's official website: www.cajacanarias.com.

The program features acclaimed films such as The Worst Person in the World (2021), Past Lives (2023), Tatami (2023), and The Zone of Interest (2023). The series kicks off this Wednesday with the Norwegian film The Worst Person in the World, directed by Joachim Trier. Released in 2021, this movie combines drama, romance, and black humor, and concludes the filmmaker's well-known "Oslo Trilogy."

The film follows Julie, played by Renate Reinsve, over a four-year period. As she approaches 30, Julie finds herself at a crossroads, grappling with her personal purpose versus societal expectations of how to live a "correct" life. Her journey leads her to abandon medicine, explore various professions, and experience emotional connections that challenge and change her.
